Joe DeBlasio

Computer Science and Engineering

Joe DeBlasio has always been fascinated by trying to figure out how we perceive information about our surroundings. How does our brain know that the mug on the table in front of us is a mug, and not simply part of the table? How do we figure out how to use a new object we've never seen before? How can we recreate that outside of biology? Just as important to him is his desire to build things that are actually used and aren't tied to the confines of an academic lab. Doing research into building computer models of our world using nothing but standard still and video cameras, Joe's work helps provide better tools to archaeologists, art historians, engineers and others. Joe earned his BSc in Computer Science from Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, CA in 2011.
